Cyprus has been ranked 6th on U.S. News & World Report’s “World’s Best Islands to Visit for 2025”, placing the Mediterranean island nation among the top global destinations for the coming year.
The annual list, compiled by U.S. News as part of its Best Vacations Rankings, evaluates travel destinations around the world using a methodology that combines both public opinion and editorial analysis. Cyprus joins a list topped by Palawan (Philippines), Sardinia (Italy), and Mauritius, with other notable mentions including Santorini (Greece) and the Faroe Islands.
According to U.S. News, each destination’s overall score is calculated using a 50/50 weighted average of two key components: a User Score and an Editors Score. The User Score is based on the percentage of positive votes from travelers on whether a destination deserves inclusion. The Editors Score reflects evaluations by U.S. News travel editors who rate locations across multiple categories, including sights, culture, food, nightlife, family-friendliness, value, and accessibility.
Cyprus received particularly strong ratings in the areas of culture, value, and romance. Its combination of ancient heritage sites, picturesque coastlines, and year-round Mediterranean climate continues to attract visitors from around the world.
The Best Islands to Visit list is one of several vacation rankings published by U.S. News, which are updated annually. The 2025 edition reflects evolving traveler preferences and current global tourism trends.
Cyprus’ placement among the top 10 reaffirms its position as a premier destination offering both historical depth and modern appeal.
