
Cyprus saw a surge in tourist arrivals in the first seven months of 2024, with numbers exceeding 2.2 million, the Cyprus Statistical Service reported on Monday.
July alone recorded 551,229 arrivals, a 5.3% increase from July 2023 and marginally higher than the pre-pandemic peak in July 2019.
Between January and July 2024, tourist arrivals reached 2,203,704, up 3.1% from the same period in 2023.
In comparison to July 2023, arrivals from the UK and Israel exhibited notable increases of 6.15% and 10%, respectively.
Meanwhile, overseas travel by Cypriot residents decreased by 7% in July 2024 compared to the previous year, totalling 171,382 trips.
Greece was the top destination for Cypriot travellers, accounting for 40.1% (68,805) of returns, followed by the UK at 11.1% (18,987) and Italy at 4.8% (8,191), as mentioned by Cystat.
